We also saw the introduction of the magnificent Emirates A380 aircraft in March. Whilst we have experienced an incredibly exciting year, Birmingham Airport is well-placed to continue growing. We look forward to launching more routes, a wider selection of airlines in 2017 and we plan to invest £100 million before the summer in our terminal and infrastructure facilities.”

Examining the latest figures further, it is no surprise that the prime holiday month of August 2016 was the busiest of the year with close to 1.3 million passengers. The busiest travel day of 2016 was Friday, August 26th. The year also enjoyed 6 months whereby passenger numbers were over the magic 1,000,000 mark.
