Yellow Travel Limited Delighted Literature Project for Local Children Takes Flight at Birmingham Airport
Officially supported by Birmingham Airport, Little Bird is the name of the great initiative which aims to empower children not only in the West Midlands but around the world through its good work.
“Giving children a positive start in life is extremely important; they are the innocence of our world and I believe it’s our duty to show them that anything is possible. The character ‘Little Chick’ was born out of my challenges in childhood and the need for someone to relate to,” commented, Alison Delaney, Founder, Little Bird. “In my profession, I have the opportunity to help adults combat their limiting beliefs picked up in childhood. Alongside the books, we also had a presentation by Sehaam Batman, founder of Ladder 2 Success in South Africa, who is working with Little Bird to twin the two schools. I'm excited to continue empowering the lives of these beautiful young people both in Solihull and abroad.”
“We're very pleased to be supporting the Little Bird school workshops as part of our Corporate Responsibility Strategy activity. It’s very different and I’m certain the children will enjoy all aspects of it, from understanding self-belief to reaching out to children on the other side of the world,” said, Andy Holding, Corporate Responsibility Manager, Birmingham Airport. “The book and workshops open children’s eyes to the world of possibilities around them and helps raise aspirations and motivate them from an early age to work hard, have ambition and reach their full potential. Alison's approach perfectly complements these ambitions and having worked with her for many years we know how inspirational and effective her methods are. This project is very much in line with our Corporate Responsibility Strategy of developing local communities and promoting health and well being in the area.”
What is lovely to see is that every child attending the Yorks wood Primary School in Kings hurst, North Solihull, very close to the airport and part of the UNITY Trust Collaborative, receives a copy of a book for workshop participation as part of the overall project. We look forward to the continued success of Little Bird as we continue to a part of the community in the area with taxis from Birmingham airport for 22 years in 2017.

Yellow Travel Limited Hails Unstoppable Birmingham Airport’s Latest Record-Breaking Announcement Regarding September 2016
The good news has now consistently stacked up for a record 19 consecutive months in a row. September 2016 was the busiest month of September in the history of Birmingham Airport. In all, over 1.2 million people traveled through the airport last month alone, an increase of almost 16% on the same month last year. To break these significant statistics down even further into plain language it basically means that the airport has enjoyed its 5th consecutive month this year where it handled over a million passengers in a 4-week window.
“This is a very healthy growth rate year on year equating to almost 165,000 more passengers being served here. It gives us a strong start to the Autumn travel period,” explained, Paul Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Birmingham Airport. “As we approach the Winter season we will commence a £100 million package of terminal works to improve the customer journey in time for the busy Summer 2017 period.”
As a provider of taxis from Birmingham Airport, this has all been terrific news for our local, national and international customers. The biggest jump is seen with long haul flights which have grown by almost 22%. On the short haul front, flights are up by over 15% year on year. Scheduled flights made up a whopping 87% of the overall passenger volume for the month of September 2016. This represents a growth rate of over 27% when our team compared it to the same month last year. We were also very interested in tracking that charter flights still play an important role in the schedule at 13%.
It was interesting to discover that exciting destinations in the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia witnessed the largest jump in passenger figures compared to the same month in 2015. But why? This is due to Birmingham Airport management being gifted at securing new deals that make it one of the most vibrant airport facilities in the United Kingdom.
